# WEB-SEC-001 No security.txt Contact File

Checks whether each site publishes /.well-known/security.txt (RFC 9116).

- Domain: Web Apps
- Severity: Info
- Control category: Web Application Security
- Fix effort: low
- CVSS v3.1 vector: `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:N`
- CIS Controls v8: 16.2
- NIST CSF 2.0: ID.RA-08
- CWE: CWE-1188
- NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5: RA-5(11)

## Why It Matters

security.txt tells researchers how to report a vulnerability. Without it, reports may go unheard or be disclosed publicly instead.

## How It Detects

Requests /.well-known/security.txt and looks for a Contact: field. This is informational and does not affect the risk summary.

## How to Fix

Publish /.well-known/security.txt with at least Contact: and Expires: fields (see securitytxt.org).

## How to Verify

```
curl -s https://<site>/.well-known/security.txt
```
